Awaken to the second half of life

Engaging with the Widening Sphere mindset has me celebrating who I am right now! This work has become sacred to me.

A new attitude on aging

Starting around age 50 we bump into the hard truth that there are likely more decades behind us than there are in front of us. Transitions into new territory provoke this realization, such as becoming empty-nesters, leaving a career or losing a parent. So what’s next?

There is an ageist perspective that we are destined for a narrowing of enjoyment and choices in life. It is frustrating when society dwells on anti-aging and offers us stories of older age that are out of step with reality. Where are the guideposts for deeply exploring and celebrating who we are becoming?

Let’s tap into our experience and wisdom to reinvent this narrative. If we consciously write the next chapter(s!) of our lives, we can only get better and that story bodes well for future generations. This is the widening sphere mindset.

Choose your journey

It is mind-boggling to contemplate a whole other adult life ahead of us, 20, 30, 40 or even more years! We are on a trajectory to the end so either we just let changes happen to us, or we claim our lives and make it count.

When preparing for adjustments regarding health, housing, finances and more, there is a plethora of advice out there. The decisions we make must suit our unique transformation. Yet how do we face the murky waters of the unknown, our future aging we have yet to imagine?

As coaches, we believe in the power of choice. That’s why we are passionate about providing a pathway for deep individual exploration through all areas of life. As a result, we have incorporated the Widening Sphere mindset into a program we call the Total Life Checkup.

I loved the exercises. Made me really think about who I am. Are these elements about who I choose to be? Or what I’ve assumed out of habit, expectations of others or society in general.

I haven’t done a program like this before. Employers should have this for employees about to retire in 2-3 years. Good way to be supportive of your workers!

The Total Life Checkup

›The first three modules set the foundation for your personal development by delving into who you are becoming, what connections you need in your life, and how you will embody what is most important for you going forward.

›This foundational exploration will be used as a lens to develop a personalized vision and action plan for six main areas of your life: home, finances, career, engagement, health and yes, how to approach dying.

›Coaching is essential to lift your words off the page so you can mindfully engage with this impactful work. At eight key times over the 14 weeks, we meet online for private heart-centred discussion, to focus your efforts into meaningful results.

Simplify life so you can get to what matters!
Jo has a talent for helping clients get out of their own way so they can live at the centre of their lives. Minimalism and mindfulness are cornerstones of her coaching work, knowing that mental, emotional and tangible ‘decluttering’ makes room for understanding what the body, heart and mind need for improved wellbeing. Jo believes in the liberating power of choice, expressed in action. It is time to live as your most natural self. Because we only get to do this once.

I have been an observer of people my whole life! I have watched the people in my world age well or badly and the difference is striking. My long career as a social worker, then psychotherapist and finally as a certified life and wellness-coach who specializes with people 50+ has allowed me the honour of looking at this often confusing journey with my clients. My professional mission is to combat ageism in our society by helping people to harness their inner wisdom and creativity to create lives of love, confidence and zest.

I find this work challenging emotionally, particularly due to recent changes. However after a coaching session with Jo I felt much better. I am glad to be thinking about my upcoming life BEFORE I actually retire!

I look forward to each module with increasing interest and anticipation as thoughts just flow. And Joyce helps me reveal more about myself through this process. She is the best listener I have ever met!
